Jeu de stratégie militaire, Warfare 1917 se déroule dans les tranchées glauques de la première Guerre mondiale. À chaque niveau, il existe deux façon de remporter la bataille : en conquérant les tranchées ennemies ou en sapant le moral des troupes adverses jusqu'à obtenir sa capitulation.

Tout se joue à la souris, avec des menus à cliquer. Plusieurs unités aux caractéristiques différentes sont rendues graduellement disponibles et il faut choisir comment les assigner au combat. Un petit levier au bas de la tranchée donne accès à un menu de gestion pour lancer sur le champ de bataille.

À chaque victoire, des points d'expérience permettent de se procurer des upgrades pour les troupes et l'équipement militaire.

- Melee Shaman's heals now have a larger cool down, and he can no longer regen focus.
- All the audio is now in sync with the subtitles.
- You can now Re-Spec 5 times a day instead of once.
- Veradux's "Re-Energize" ability now only applies a buff that restores 10 focus per turn, so when he casts it on a target with full focus, you still get 90% of the benefit.
